Kenya has warned it will impose a total ban on flights from Somalia, including humanitarian aid.
The Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a letter to the offices of humanitarian agencies that the flights were being used for “political purposes” even after Kenya suspended flights.
Kenya recently suspended flights from Somalia but did not suspend emergency services to the United Nations.
But Kenya warns that “humanitarian flights should only be used for humanitarian purposes”.
The ministry also demanded that all humanitarian flights first obtain a certificate and submit a list of passengers as well as the goods to be transported.
